It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Hoffman in the morning of February 22nd, 2020 with his devoted wife Marianne at his side. His wish to spend his final days in the comfort of home with family, friends and neighbours had been fulfilled after battling COPD for several years.

Fred was born on April 13th, 1933 near Graz, Austria with his twin brother Dolphe. A few years later he arrived in New York city by boat, eventually settling in Ottawa and moving to Vancouver in his last year of high school.

Having grown up during the Depression and the War, Fred was very experienced at doing more with less. This skill led him to career as a Purchasing Manager at BC Hydro and, eventually, early retirement.

Fred kept busy in retirement helping seniors, friends and family with home repairs and travelling the world with Marianne whom he had met 51 years prior while visiting his birthplace in Austria.

Fred will be remembered as a generous and modest man by the surviving members of his family; wife Marianne (nee: Gangl); sons Paul (Yuko) and Peter; granddaughters Hana and Ally.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
