Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Hamer on July 28,
2022 as a consequence of cancer. Paul was born in Manchester,England and his
spirit of adventure took him to Canada in his early twenties. He loved the freedom
and the abundant nature of Canada which he explored with enthusiasm.
Paul earned his living as a hard working sheet metal trade worker, working for
many years until his retirement at Apollo Sign and Millwork in Vancouver,
Canada. In his earlier thirties he discovered Buddhism, received teachings from
many Tibetan masters and became a life-long ardent believer and practitioner of
that spiritual path which gave him wisdom and strength for his final journey.
Paul leaves behind his wife Ritz who cared for him with great love, attentiveness
and energy. Other family member he left behind include his sister Lynne, brother
Martin and his wife Pat, his niece Jade and two sons Mason and Riley, Ritz’s
children Katherine and John. Also, he leaves behind close friends including Peter
and Vince in England, Marian and her young son Guy who Paul enjoyed playing
with on occasion, his Buddhist friends in Vancouver including Peter, Gary, Guy-
Gabriel and Chantal and those from the Dharmadhatu sangha.
Paul had a good life rich in love, friendships, adventure and extremely rare wisdom
teachings from eminent Buddhist masters. His presence, smile and twinkle in his
eyes will be missed by all. May his spirit soar!
