Erhard Willi Bublitz

Erhard Willi Bublitz went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2024 in Surrey, BC. Erhard was born to parents Emil and Natalie Bublitz in East Prussia, which is now Budry, Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and settled in the Vancouver area. In 1961, he returned to Germany where he married the love of his life Gerhilde Rosemarie. He came back to Canada and made his career as a machinist and welder. A loving father and a man of great faith, he raised a family of three children. He loved music and played the violin and the harmonica as well as singing in the church choir. Erhard was treasurer of his church for many years. He was an avid beekeeper and had many hives in Richmond where he harvested the honey for sale and to give to good friends. Erhard had many aquariums in which he bred and raised tropical fish and sold them back to the store. In his early days he enjoyed photography and took pictures at many weddings.
Erhard is survived by his wife, Gerhilde; his daughter Christine (Paul), son Richard and sister Elli Neser in Germany. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Brigitte.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Arbutus Place for their kind and compassionate care of Erhard during his stay there.
A small graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery in Surrey. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

I regret the death of Uncle Erhard and express my sincere condolences to his family and relatives in Canada! I met Erhard briefly when I was young when I was staying with my parents – I remember him as a quiet and kind person. Elke Seyfarth, née Bublitz (daughter of his brother Helmut Bublitz, formerly of Ludwigsburg) from Flensburg, Germany.

Rest in peace Onkel Erhard. I will always remember your quiet and gentle manner. As a child I was fascinated by the amazing aquariums you had set up in your basement. More recently I appreciated you sharing stories of your childhood. You were very brave. My deepest condolences to Tante Gerhild, Chris (Paul) and Richard.
