Shirley Yvonne Judson-Giles nee Hamer

November 8, 1935 – January 26, 2025

Shirley passed away peacefully in Mission, BC surrounded by loved on in her 89th year. Born in Port Elgin, Ontario to Nettie Valentine nee Hearn and Robert William Hamer. Shirley grew up in the community with her sister Joyce on their grandparent’s farm. Married to her first husband Bruce Keith Judson “Whitey” in June of 1953 in Brandon, Manitoba they soon made their way to the west coast and raised their five children in White Rock, BC. Daniel Glen, born 1953 (Hazel), Bonnie Lynn born 1954, Patricia Diane born 1955 (Chris Bowman), Gordon Paul born 1957, and Kimberly Anne born 1959 (Michael Youritchuk).

Shirley and Whitey spent most of their working careers in the food concession industry working with carnivals and special events throughout Western Canada during the spring, summer, and fall, bringing their children and many of their grandchildren along to work with them at various events. Later in life, Shirley spent many years working for BC Forestry in the winter months.

Widowed from Whitey in June of 1992, Shirley welcomed 12 grandchildren. Jo-Ann, Christine (Bonnie), Tricia, Paul, and Christopher (Dan and Hazel), Jessika, Miranda, (Pat and Mike McNay). Also, Cassie & Tyler (Pat and Chris), as well as step-granddaughter Krista from Chris. Wade (Paul) along with Raymond and Jennifer (Kim and Mike). Shirley was fortunate to have 15 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Eric, Zach, Yzamine Issac, Adam, Emma, Marissa, Nathaniel, Penny, Austin, Connor, Xander, Isabelle, Maverick, and Wyatt as well as, two great-great-grandchildren Hunter and Kendall. Shirley was predeceased by her daughter Patricia, grandsons Paul and Raymond along with great grandson Hunter. She also has many nieces, nephews, and friends she leaves behind.

Shirley married Colin Wayne Giles in October of 2000. Wayne had 6 adult children, and Shirley developed a relationship with his eldest Stan Giles, wishing she could have met them all. They enjoyed their retirement years at their home in 150 Mile House, BC until Wayne’s passing in February of 2023. At which time Shirley relocated to Mission, BC where she would be closer to her children and many descendants enjoying many visits and special gatherings with them during her final stage of life. The family would like to thank the staff of The Residence in Mission in the Hatzic neighbourhood. Thank you as well to Dr. Manocha for your care and kindness in looking after Shirley during her time at TRIM.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday March 2nd at 1:30pm to be held at The Mt. Lehman Community Hall located at 6418 Mt. Lehman Rd in Abbotsford, BC.
